A resurrection prayer

On Sunday 18th May we enjoyed Psalm 30 - all about the resurrection of God's King Jesus and his people. You can catch up here. 

This is a prayer Tom wrote about the resurrection that he prayed on Easter Sunday:

We give you praise our eternal God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
You who decided before creation to save and redeem a people for your glory.
We praise you for the events of that first Easter.
Thank you that after Good Friday, as Jesus’ body lay in the tomb,
You were working to bring about the completion of your triumphant victory over evil.
We praise you that on that first Easter Sunday the women and Jesus’ disciples found the tomb
empty: only the folded grave clothes left - proclaiming the victory of our Lord Jesus.
For you had brought about his glorious resurrection from the dead through the power of the Spirit, and you confirmed this by his appearing to his disciples and over 500 others.
We praise you that this glorious moment in history has brought about new life for us, 
for Jesus was delivered over to death for our sins and raised to life for our justification.
We thank you that Jesus’ resurrection, proclaims his lordship;
and applies his work of atonement for us -
His once for all sacrifice for forgiveness made in our place. 
We thank you that by faith in our risen Lord Jesus,
His resurrection is our resurrection, 
and his victory over sin, death and Satan is our victory.
We thank you for the hope that resurrection Sunday brings us,
the power to fight sin now,
and one day the power to rise with Jesus in new glorified bodies, 
freed from the weakness and frailty of our present bodies.
We praise you for new life through our Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead!
Through his name we pray,
and for your glory,
Amen.
